SLAM DUNK CONTEST RULES:

​

 

PROMOTION OVERVIEW AND DATES: Battle in the Apple Slam Dunk Contest ("Promotion") will consist of two (2) components: a Fan Voting Process(“Fan Voting") and a Dunk Contest ("Contest"). The Fan Voting starts on 11/16/18 and ends on 11/26/18 in accordance with the event schedule outlined below.

Eligibility: The Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are: (1) 18 years of age or older (or age of majority in their state/province); and (2) Not current members of any college or university basketball team within or outside the United States. Note: The Fan Voting is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, the District of Columbia, and Canada (excluding Quebec), eighteen (18) years of age or older (or age of majority in their state/province) as of the date of vote/entry. The information participants provide will only be used for Fan Voting purposes. This Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations. Void in Quebec and where prohibited by law.

 

CONTEST IMPORTANT NOTE: By entering the Contest, each participant represents that he is in good physical condition and that he has the physical capacity to participate in the Promotion and understands and accepts all risks associated with participation in the Contest. Each participant also expressly acknowledges his understanding that the Contest can be dangerous and can involve the risk of serious physical injury. Each participant represents that he is participating in the Contest voluntarily, with full knowledge of the potential risks entailed and he is expressly, knowingly and voluntarily assuming the risk of any and all physical injury associated with or caused by his participating in the Contest.

 

On-Site Event Judging For Round One: Round One will be judged by a panel of judges designated by the Sponsor. During Round One , contestants will be required to perform two (2) dunks each. During Rounds One each dunk will need to be completed within sixty (60) seconds. Contestants will alternate dunks with the other contestants participating in each of the rounds listed above. Each contestant will be directed to participate in each round in the manner and according to the rules, procedures and conditions specified by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Only basketball(s) in the designated area that are provided by Sponsor will be used for the Event.

Scoring for Round One: The scoring for Round One is as follows: Each dunk completed by a contestant during a round will be rated on a score of 6 through 10 based equally on the following judging criteria: (1) skill and (2) ability ("Judging Criteria"). The two scores received for each contestant in each round will be added to yield a combined score for round one.

 

Determination of Contestants Advancing to each Consecutive Round For Round One: All four (4) contestants will participate in round one. The two (2) contestants with the highest combined score, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will move on to the Round Two.

In the event of a tie in any round, a dunk-off (consisting of one dunk) will take place to determine the contestant(s) that will move on to Round Two based on the Judging Criteria. Any dunk-off will be repeated as necessary until the tie is broken. The dunk-off will be judged by the panel of judges designated by Sponsor. Time limit rules will also apply for any dunk-off

 

Round Two: During Round Two, contestants will be required to perform two (2) dunks. Each dunk will need to be completed within sixty (60) seconds. Contestants will alternate dunks with the other contestants participating in the Round Two. Each contestant will be directed to participate in each round in the manner and according to the rules, procedures and conditions specified by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Only basketball(s) in the designated area that are provided by Sponsor will be used for the Event. Each Event Round Two will be judged by a panel of onsite judges designated by Sponsor. For the purpose of voting each dunk completed by a contestant during this round will be rated on a score of 6 through 10 based equally on the following judging criteria: (1) skill and (2) ability ("Judging Criteria"). Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, the contestant with the highest score for Round Two will be crowned the 1st Place Prize Winner for such Event. In the event of a tie in Round Two, the two contestants will be entitled to one additional dunk to determine the winner. The judges will then decide the winner by choosing contestant (A) or contestant (B)

 

Props: The use of props will be permitted ONLY if approved a week prior to the contest by the sponsor. Dunkers will not be able to use any props on the day of the event without written consent from the sponsor. All dunkers should submit any prop ideas to the sponsor a week prior to the event for approval and all props used will be the sole responsibility of the dunkers to provide.

On-site Winner Verification: Immediately following the close of each Event Round Three, the potential 1st Place Prize Winner will be required to execute (where permitted by law) an Affidavit of Eligibility and a Release of Liability, (where legal) a Publicity Release, and W-9 form on-site and in the time period specified by Sponsor. Failure to comply with these Official Rules or to execute the above stated documents may result in disqualification and, at Sponsor's sole discretion; the applicable prize may be awarded to the next runner-up from the Round Three of the applicable Event. This process may be repeated if the next runner-up is ineligible at any point throughout the Promotion.

On-site Prizes: 1st Place Prize (One (1) per Event): $10,000US awarded in the form of a check.

Battle In The Apple Notification/Documentation Requirement: The four (4) potential Finalists will be required to execute and return a notarized Affidavit of Eligibility and a Release of Liability and (where legal) a Publicity Release within ten (10) days of date of issuance of notification. Finalists must be able to travel to the designated Battle in the Apple event location on dates specified by Sponsor or Finalist status and prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to a runner-up. Noncompliance with the foregoing, with these Official Rules, the inability to contact a potential Finalist within a reasonable time period or any notification being returned as non-deliverable may result in disqualification and, at Sponsor's discretion, a runner-up Finalist may be notified (at the sole discretion of the Sponsor).

General Prize Conditions: Prize awards are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. Winners are responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes (including income and withholding taxes) and any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided. No substitution, cash redemption (if non-cash prize) or transfer of prizes is permitted, except by Sponsor, which reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value. All prize details are at Sponsor's sole discretion.

Sponsor reserves the right not to award all on-site prizes, in its sole discretion, if it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified entries for any round of the Promotion.

Ownership of Videos, Photographs, and Footage: Contestants who participate in an Event may be videotaped and photographed during their participation (collectively, "Footage") and by participating, agree to such videotaping and photographs. All Footage will be owned by the Battle in the Apple Entities, which will have the right, along with its designees (including, without limitation, PUMA Basketball, Inc. to use, edit, adapt, post, stream, copy and exploit such Footage, and all elements embodied therein, including any names, voices, likenesses and performance embodied therein, in any and all media, now or hereafter devised, without further payment or consideration, notification or permission, worldwide and in perpetuity, except where prohibited by law. Without limiting the foregoing, by entering the Promotion and without limiting any other rights granted hereunder, each participant hereby grants permission for the Footage of him and/or his video (as applicable) to be posted on battleintheapple.com, Puma.com or other websites and social media channels.
